The ad-tracking business is really growing out-of-hand as the return on ads is steadily decreasing. This will only lead to them becoming more and more intrusive.
Just like Marco states, the only way to stop this development is technical countermeasures — it will never be enough for enthusiasts to block the ads though. Blocking needs to reach a larger audience and the fact that the next version of iOS Safari includes ad-blocking extensions is a huge step in the direction towards a better web for everyone.
